Yellow monkeyflowers carpet the ground along the Dog Mountain Trail in Washington State, overlooking the Columbia River Gorge. Dog Mountain is probably one of the most popular trails I've ever hiked. The views are so beautiful here in late spring/early summer that scores of people make the trip up. I even encountered some who were running all the way to the summit! If you can time your visit just right, you can be rewarded with one of the best wildflower shows out there.
