Go with the Flow. This is one of the bigger lava rivers I have seen. It is bursting out of a new vent, less than a day old. I was working with Frans Lanting on a National Geographic story, and we had the good fortune of months of incredible activity around the Pu'u O'o vent of Kilauea Volcano, on the Big Island of Hawaii. As this river of lava flowed down in front of us, behind us were a dozen spatter cones exploding in the caldera. I love days like this.
