About the Shot
Never-ending Autumn: It was the last day of three consecutive weeks on the road leading workshops and shooting new images. I started in northern Vermont in late September and ended in the Allegheny mountains of West Virginia. That morning on Dolly Sods I had the chance to shoot an amazing display of light at sunrise. In the afternoon, storms moved through the region and chances of great light were diminished for sunset. I set up at this favorite ledge looking into the depths of Blackwater Canyon. It seemed the light was not going to produce until finally at sunset the sky began to pick up some subtle pinks and over the course of the nest 15 minutes the color and light continued to grow in intensity until finally it reached its crescendo. An amazing end to my autumn shooting on the East Coast.
