About the Shot

Bhagavad Gita (Lisbon 1990) is one of the earliest photos in the Urban Wallpaper series (1990-2012) and was taken with a Canon FTB. To digitize, I scanned the original negative at 4000 dpi. As with the other images in the series, this is a found image. The style is relatively simple compared to the greater complexity of later images, but I like the juxtaposition of spirituality and politics (represented by the red). As is so often the case with street art, the colour and texture of the ground helps convey the urban aesthetic.
