About the Shot

This photo is a journey into the scale independencies of the natural world; specifically those creating fractal patterns and flow. From old growth cedar trees to tiny sand grains, this images illustrates some of the dendritic patterns that appear throughout the natural world. See what you may, as there is much to see. In reality, the image has been shaped by water and gravity, both eroding and depositing sand on a beach on the west coast of Vancouver Island, BC, Canada.
