About the Shot
I have been shooting this burnt forest for 8 years. Every autumn the forest changes dramatically. The forest recovers so quickly from a devastating burn with fireweed coming up and giving new life. The fireweed turns a fire red and magenta in the fall. This forest is extremely hard to find a composition in due to the chaos of branches and trees. When I was shooting this scene I stumbled into a Grizzly bear, who was 30 feet from me at sunset.
